RESOURCES

Historian Roundtable

Before the presidency, before the revolution, before the victories, who was George Washington? In this 45-minute roundtable discussion hosted by Greg Jackson, world-renowned historians, including Craig Bruce Smith, Edward G. Lengel, and Colleen J. Shogan, sit down with director Jon Erwin, to discuss the events, people, and challenges that transformed a humble farmer into a major for the British crown. Together, they pull back the curtain on Washington’s formative years — his burning ambitions, his crippling failures, his code of honor — and examine how Washington’s early experiences reveal the characteristics of the leader he would one day become.

Young Washington Extended Discussion Guide
